La Tania ski resort overview:

La Tania is a small, purpose-built village in the French Alps, at about 1,350 metres in the Savoie region. It was created for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics and has grown since into a relaxed, family-friendly resort with a distinctly Alpine feel, its chalets clad in timber and stone.

Its biggest strength is its position. La Tania is part of the Three Valleys, one of the largest linked ski areas in the world, so skiers can reach Courchevel, Méribel and beyond without a car. The village sits among trees, which makes the slopes more sheltered and easier to ski when visibility is poor, and the runs back down to the village are a highlight for confident intermediates.

The atmosphere is quieter and more affordable than glitzy neighbouring Courchevel 1850. Even so, the resort still offers a good choice of restaurants, bars, ski shops and a handful of hotels and catered chalets. Much of the accommodation is ski-in, ski-out, and the compact layout keeps everything within easy walking distance.

Beginners are well served nearby, while advanced skiers can head higher into the Three Valleys for challenging terrain. In summer, La Tania also draws walkers and mountain bikers.
