Mariborsko Pohorje is Slovenia’s largest and most accessible ski resort, located just south of the city of Maribor, making it a unique destination where skiing practically reaches into an urban area. The resort spans a broad elevation range from around 325m up to about 1,347m and offers around 35km of well-maintained slopes suitable for all levels, from beginners to intermediates, with some steeper sections for more advanced skiers. One of the standout features of Mariborsko Pohorje is its night skiing: up to around 7–10 km of illuminated pistes allow skiers to enjoy the slopes after sunset, often touted as some of the longest night skiing runs in Europe. The popular Čopova slope and the Snow Stadium are favorites for both daytime and night sessions, descending towards the valley when snow conditions permit. The resort’s terrain is especially family-friendly, with gentle blue runs and dedicated ski-school areas, while intermediates will appreciate the variety of red pistes spread across Mariborsko Pohorje and the quieter Areh section.
